Angela Strang is 2015 Landlord of the Year. She is a member of the Southland Property investors’ Association and was presented with this prestigious award at the annual NZ Property Investors’ Federation Conference held in Auckland at the Crowne Plaza on Sunday. Peter Lewis was named runner up. He is a member of Auckland Property Investors’ Association and was voted on to the NZPIF Executive Committee at the AGM on Friday.
Angela was given this annual award as she is now building up a significant portfolio of investment properties, not being afraid to do the hard work to achieve her dream. Her tenants confirm that she treats them as important customers, engaging them in her impressive strategy for maintenance and improvements.
Peter is not only professional and innovative in his approach to his own work as a landlord but he assists other landlords to progress as well through his membership of APIA. Peter has an impressive file of information for his tenants, taking the time to recognise the needs of immigrants.
The Landlord of the Year Award has been sponsored by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment since its inception in 2008 and MBIE is once again the proud sponsor in 2015. This year there has been an impressive range of applicants from all over New Zealand. The quality of entrants was very high, making the job of the judges a difficult one.
In assessing each entry, the panel of judges looked at
Relationships with tenants.
Methodologies / systems / processes that show the entrant has a genuine understanding of management of property and of property law including the RTA.
Participation in community activity and further education
Understanding of dispute resolution.
Any unique factors.
Some tenants were also contacted as part of the judging process.
