Rod McKenzie, who now lives in Christchurch, was a North Canterbury beef and deer farmer, where he also carried out animal research and built a rural market information business called Agri-Fax. In 2010 he was awarded a MNZM for services to Agriculture.
Currently Rod is involved in business mentoring, internet marketing, and helping his wife, Janette, with their residential property portfolio. Starting in 1987 with $15,000, they have grown their net property asset base by 30% pa on average each year, now worth in excess of $3m. Quality research and analysis has been the major factor in their success.
In his workshop, Rod is going to take you back to the fundamentals of measuring profit in investments, like yield, capital gain and combining them with a IRR measurement. (If you don’t know what an IRR is, then perhaps you should attend Rod’s Presentation!)
Using a reasonably simple spreadsheet, Rod will then explore the impacts on profit measurements for a typical residential investment for various scenarios. He will cover items like change of interest rates, adding on a bedroom, changing your equity %, and the impacts of a capital gain tax.
